Kadara Enyeasi

Studio Sessions: The Pressure of this Water
Interactive Sessions: A Thousand Resplendent Faces in the Sun

October 30-November 6, 2021

A Thousand Resplendent Faces in the Sun is a collaborative art making project through which artist Kadara Enyeasi records conversations and takes portrait style photographs of visitors who wish to inform this new body of work. This direction builds on his previous bodies of work, Night Bus to Emmaus and The Pressure of This Water, both of which explored the idea of coming back to one’s self and were comprised of large-scale paintings, photography, sculptural installation and poetry.

Portraits taken at the Treehouse will serve as image references for cyanotypes and layered acetate prints, which are some of the mediums the forthcoming body of work will employ. Informal conversations staged as interviews will allow participants to gain a deeper insight into Enyeasi’s practice or make revelations about their own lives that will inform the artist’s text based pieces.

Kadara Enyeasi is a trained architect and artist who lives and works in Lagos, Nigeria.
He directs Studio Enyeasi, an art and design based studio in Lagos. His work engages in a multi-disciplinary approach to comment on topics of body politics, sexuality and religion, myths and taboos in contemporary Nigerian society. His work has been exhibited locally and internationally.
