Segun Falowo, Ope Adedeji and Edwin Okolo
There Be Monsters, There Be Pride
October 4, 2018

As part of his Bring Your Own Lit (BYOLit) series, Edwin Okolo presents There Be Monsters, There Be Pride, a reading, installation and curated soundscape. Featuring writers Segun Falowo, Dare Segun Falowo and Edwin Okolo himself, this literary event and installation considers the trope of monster literature as allegory for personal anxieties about gender and ethnic minorities.

Edwin Okolo is a thirty-one year old Nigerian journalist and artisanal crocheter living and working out of Lagos. As a journalist he has worked fashion, lifestyle, culture, sexuality and culture beats, and considers his work covering issues pertaining to gender and sexuality in Africa his most fulfilling. He served as the culture editor for alternative lifestyle magazine, TheNativeMag and contributed to its first three issues and he currently works at the editor-in-chief at YNaija.com, a politics and culture online newspaper based in Lagos, Nigeria. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.
